On October 5–7, the xG-RIC community came together at Fraunhofer HHI in Berlin for the xG-RIC Advisory Board Meeting & Workshop 2026, hosted by the xG-RIC Technology Transfer Hub.
Day 1–2: Consortium and Advisory Board Meeting
We reviewed our progress in technology development, technology transfer and ecosystem development and discussed next steps with our Advisory Board.
Day 3: xG-RIC Workshop
More than 120 experts from research, industry, policy and startups joined us to explore one question: How do we transfer cutting-edge 6G research into technologies and solutions that create tangible impact in industry and society?
Highlights included:
Strategy: Opening perspectives from Dirk Ziemann (BMFTR), Kai Börner (VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik) and Slawomir Stanczak (Fraunhofer HHI, xG-RIC Coordinator) on success criteria and xG-RIC's progress as a Technology Transfer Hub Application
Domains: 6G for future healthcare, from service robotics to quantum sensing; 6G for mobility, to sovereign wireless solutions for NTN and critical infrastructures
Panel "From Research Excellence to Market Impact": Representatives from BMFTR, Ericsson, Eutelsat Group, Infineon and Siemens discussed how to accelerate the path from research to market
Panel "Fostering the Berlin Ecosystem in 6G & Related Areas": Representatives from Berlin Partner, xG-ALOE / airpuls, atesio, xG-Incubator, Fraunhofer HHI and DroneMasters discussed how research, industry, startups and public stakeholders can jointly strengthen Berlin as a hub for 6G and related technologies
Technology Sessions: “Microelectronics & Hardware Platforms (TN & NTN)”, “MIMO, ISAC & Radio Technologies”, “Edge Intelligence & AI-Native Networks” Startup pitches from the xG-Incubator and live demonstrations from the xG-RIC Technology Transfer Hub showed how research and transfer come together in practice.
