xG-RIC
Technology Transfer Hub for Medicine and Mobility of the Future
xG-RIC is conceived as a technology transfer hub with the goal of advancing key 6G technologies and systematically accelerating their transfer into industry and society. The focus lies on the close integration of research, technology development, and application-driven innovation in areas such as connected medicine and urban mobility, in cooperation with industrial partners, start-ups, and societal stakeholders.
XG-RIC targets major advances in core 6G enabling technologies, including (i) next-generation MIMO, (ii) integrated sensing and communication tailored to medical and smart city applications, and ii) network and edge intelligence, with a particular emphasis on the integration of Al and radio access. The objective is to develop market-ready technologies, including proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and contributions to international standardization (e.g., TU, 3GPP). The planned integration of these technologies into realistic test environments - especially in clinical settings - enables real-world validation and significantly accelerates technology
Strategic priorities include:
• 6G technologies for concrete applications in medicine, mobility, and society
• Energy-efficient infrastructures through communication, sensing, and Al
• Open test environments for start-ups and future-oriented projects
• An interdisciplinary PhD program for early-career researchers
